I agree that the world is more alive and real with a climbing system, I believe that this also makes room for more dynamic missions, not to mention that the movement of the characters is more natural. A great example of a climbing game is "Zelda Breath of the wild". Honestly, I don't understand why other games don't adopt this system.
(I didn't mean to reply to the previous message, ignore) Yep, all for climbing. It would however create map-making challenges for the dev team. It would be hard to create a secluded area only available at a later stage of the game/higher level. But I suppose flying mounts are causing the exact same problem and I think I'd take climbing over flying any day, for more immersive map travel and areas feeling more alive.
