Well, one thing is for sure, a Healer spec is mandatory! But what else? Ranged DPS? Why not a Melee DPS, enhancing his weapons with magic? Why don't we go even further and make him a Tank spec as well?
Think outside of the box, and describe the best specialisations for the Priest!
I will keep saying that if you want to be different you have to break priest/healer support stereotype.
Maybe introducing builds or maybe trough specialization.
All classes should have 1 way to tank, to heal, to physically DPS and to magical DPS.
Priest-Paladin for me are the same, they should be merged in 1 class, "Lightbringer" or "Holymancer" (as the antithesis of necromancer).
How would Holymancer...
-Tank? Equiping holy skills for Healing and buffing himself, having high magical and physical resistance and passives that increase autohealing while using heavy armor but it increases the cost of healing and they depend on healers buff to have better resource regeneration. (Maybe medium armor)
-Heal? Equiping skills that heal and buff your teammates and maybe some passive skills that heal you depending on how well you are doing your healer role, example you heal 100 health every 1000 health healed to your teammates. (Light and medium armor maybe)
-Magical DPS? Using the holy light of whatever God they believe in to deal damage, "Holymancer" an expert in Holy magic, holy fire, holy beam, holy bow, holy spear/sword/whip/, holy chain/holy shackles , yeah weapons made of holy magic. (Light and medium armor also)
-Physical DPS? Imbuing physical weapons with holy magic to give them buffs depending on the weapon type, yeah this axe will heal me very time I hit you until you die, healing arrows (shoot your friends to heal them š¤£) well maybe not but what about each time you have 3 arrows on the mob they create a holy explosion, Spears? Let increase spear range with the holy magic, shield? Let's get offensive, imbue your shield with holy magic to transform in a circular holy chainsaw and you can throw it like Captain America. (Heavy and medium armor)
Yeah something like that, it needs to be polished but I think that's all great idea.
ESO wanted to be like this but they screw it, at the end armor skills were, light armor increases al that has to do with magic DPS, medium armor increases physical DPS, and heavy, just healing. So at the end the stereo type continued cause you always had to chose light armor if you wanted to be a good Magical DPS. So here you have the opportunity to create this concept that has been bad executed.
Let armors impact your mobility and resource regeneration, you want resistance then you will move or Regen slower, you want mobility? Then you will be more vulnerable.
