I'm going to combine skills and specialization in one post so that way the idea and concepts are much more clear or understandable.
In history, pirates for decades have dedicated themselves to
raiding, looting, robbing, boarding and taking vehicles, so I think pirates in Scars
of Honor should be oriented that way.
Skills:
To reach and assault and rob mounted players, pirates should have a skill usable while mounting that unmount enemy players at melee range.
Also, I think pirates should have a steal skill, there are a lot of usable steal mechanics in mmorpg, maybe he/she can steal objects, money, skills, buffs, pieces of armor or consumables. For that the class will need some stealth mechanics.
Pirates tend to assault in groups so maybe, pirate class,
should have abilities supported by his/her comrades. Something like support
abilities exclusive for other pirate characters with different spec.
Specializations:
1)
Stealth specialization, but to differentiate it
with assassin not oriented to assassinate, maybe more oriented to get tactical
advantages in combat or to evade or fulfill raid mechanics (maybe for better positioning), something like much
more supportive than the assassin.
2)
Melee dps, with dual wielding mechanics, 1h swords
in each hand, a sword and a dagger, etc.
3)
Mid-range dps, with dual wielding mechanics but
with a one-handed melee weapon and a pistol, or two pistols. To differentiate with
Ranger class, should have much less range, doesn’t have pet and doesn’t put
traps (or maybe use traps but with different trigger mechanics, something like trigger it manually).
