Interesting ideas you have for sure.
Everything will be looked at when the time for it comes, so don't stop with the amazing ideas ^^
A good example of different mechanics used in pve are Dungeon & Dragon Online and Neverwinter.
The class making a difference in operating a mechanism.
>> clerics interacting with sacred altars,
>> mage using power orbs,
>> druids receiving gifts from nature,
>> rogue disarming traps
and etc...
Another interesting mechanic was from the Wildstar game, depending on the chosen Skill it revealed different areas.
>> exploration You accessed secret areas within the map and had an extra reward (furniture, weapon or potion blueprint).
>> combatant you had access to a "Fight Club" and won bets
Minigames give a little more detail to the game.
