I would like to open one very interesting and vast topic.
Yes as you already know that is the Mounts discussion.
Give us what you've got, everything you were missing in other games (and I'm sure that you have some pretty big ideas).
I personally would like to catch and tame my mount or to buy a little newborn horse and look after it for some time, feed it, teach it, and after it is big and strong enough I will get it a saddle and ride it. Or if it is an elemental I will have to battle it and make it obey my orders. Maybe I find an egg and hatch it and look after it. Or I have to find the rarest metals and learn the hardest building technics to manage and build a mechanical mount. And also watch how the mounts grow and get strong.
We want you to really feel the game, everything to be personal. We want you to make efforts for every weapon, armor, mount, and stuff like that. We want you to have feelings like satisfaction when you find the desired weapon or armor, to feel love about your mount like a real live pet.
I really don't get satisfaction from buying a mount from the store and just click to learn on it. Or to make a really easy quest and win a mount.
Everything I say is conceptual and I don't know if we are going to have mechanical or flying mounts or stuff like that.

The best mounts are currently in Guild Wars 2. They had a very interesting approach to the mount system.
Instead of having a standard mount system that you just spawn your mount, hop on it and go, they introduced different types.
Each mount, be that glider, wolf, drake or roller beetle, had a very specific gameplay that is unique for that respective mount.
Also you are not dismounted the moment you are hit by a spell/attack, or your mount instantly disappearing after touching water (ESO).
I found that amazing and nothing we had seen before.
I say think about what mounts will introduce in the game:
1. Are they going to be tied up to the story?
2. Are they going to serve a different purpose then a mere transportation?
3. Would you be able to change their color, equipment, upgrades perhaps?
4. Can you transport goods or anything else if need be?
5. Will they offer something different or unique like let's say underground traversal?
6. Will be like a virtual pet that will die of starvation or thirst?
7. Are there going to be bonuses to your pet if you keep feeding it, stats perhaps?
There are many possibilities.
I do like the direction you are going though. Making us strive for whatever feels engaging and going back to the core of MMOs.
If I have to be serious I prefer the old style of gameplay where it's a struggle to complete the content.
Not too much, not too little. Just the right amount so you can feel that you actually completed something.
For example Classic WoW, or Guild Wars 1.
I really miss the opportunity in MMOs instead of having millions of different animals to ride, to have a few but to be meaningful.
For example 10 different mounts but you struggle through content and quest chains to acquire them.
Each feels like an achievement, you feel connected with your mount and you can upgrade it, pet it, feed it and get customization for.
In fact you can tie quest progression or item searching (much like archaeology) with mounts. They can have their own abilities.
Just food for thought I guess, nothing concrete....
I am well aware of the guild wars 2 mount system, as I myself have played it for some time.
There every mount has its own unique ability, one jumps very high, one glides, one flies, one runs very fast etc.
I also miss the old days where MMOs were hard and you have to actually think not just press random buttons and instakill everything.

I really prefer buy from the store mounts and click to learn also the click to use option. Maybe some cool animations for the different mounts. Horses can gallop to you. Dragons(and any other usually flying creature) can fly to you. Cat-like mounts can jump from behind your back. Wolves can jump in front of you and huss at you. And all that for the period casting time. As riding training I think it would be cool to be obtained via small quest and a fee like irl where you have to pay for your driving license and actually attending to some classes . Not sure will there be tiers of mount riding skill but if there are I prefer for them not to be really expensive. Of course higher tier should be more expensive but still affordable 😁 . And if there are gonna be riding training tiers. Maybe upgrading your slower mount to a faster one seems good. Like your car irl - just tune it. This could be obtained by another quest. "Mount tuning"
As for mounts having different abilities seems cool to me. Every mount with wings should be able to give you slow falling. Horses should be 10% faster. Some water-like creatures should give you water speed. And so on. Also mounts should be disabled inside buildings but maybe not every building there should totally be places where you can ride inside.
Also I think every race must have unique mounts with different skins without any bonus abilities ( because people may decide to use a certain race only because of their mount) but just another skin added in the market for everyone to have. Like if humans have horses orcs should also be able to have a horse, just like bearan, undead etc. But only 1 limited skin.
Ok i think that's all I could think of 😄
Cya around!

Shock! :)

Hello i totaly agree with the taming a mount something like the old system of wow taming a pet.
prehaps luring a diffrent type of mount with diffrent type of bate for a specific type of mount if you dont get it i will explain it easyer
Mount type 1-10
Bate Type A-E
Mount 1 can only be Tamed by Bate Type A
Mount 2 can only be Tamed by Bate Type B
and so on
it should be possible to Tame a mount with the wrong bate but the likelyness should be realy realy low like a 5% chans
I would like to see diffrent races to have have diffrent type of preferd mounts
Would be stupid to have Minotaurs riding the same mount as a Human or race/Class specific mounts
there is so much that can be typed here but ye
Sorry for crapy english 1 to manny beers
With kind regards Zfilez
Hello,
A mounting system is great for the end game. When we're in leveling time, is excellent to walk slow and see the beautiful world we have to explore. But at a high level, perhaps we can return just to do another quest and it's helpful to walk fast.
The idea that we find the pet and take care of it till the time we can mount is cool. Tame, feed, and make it happy is a nice way to create a link with our mount. And it should be at the beginning of the adventure because notices the pet is growing too fast is strange.
But it needs to do one way we don't be locked in the system with fear of the pet die or don't be good enough. This system may look like a mobile game and may don't be good.
I don't like the idea of habilities for mounts, it can unbalance making everyone use one particular mount just for the bonus. Fly mount is another thing that can lose the ambient immersion feeling.
I know that even the things I don't like if made with care will be amazing.
Great job.
I don't like that much the idea of the mount being something really developed. I like more simple mounts, just press a button and then you become quicker. Maybe its a good idea to have some quests to show you your first mount, some kind of lore behind your first mount. But in the endgame, i think that mounts need to be something that you can collect. Maybe its nice to have an system like Dragons Prophet have, that instead of you just need to be lucky to get your mount, you really need to build you character, so you can get trough the mini-game of getting the mount.
Keep doing a great job. I'm really anxious to play the game.

The mount should be something which really you care about. Think if you were in medieval times. Are you gonna leave you horse without care?
I am really up for the idea where the mount will chase you in allowed places like a pet. You'll have to feed him and take good care of him.
Kind regards,
Armegon
