Not the best first impression for me...
I just found out about game. Register and thinking if I should buy supporter or honored pack.
Decided to check forums.
Seeing Mount 101 topic. (mounts are always hot stuff)
Seeing dev speaking as a vanilla WoW player and I already have in mind "i'm spending my money here"
Opening store
Seeing 180* degrees opposite of opening post.
Closing the wallet.
Feeling bad.
You literally said:
I really don't get satisfaction from buying a mount from the store and just click to learn on it. Or to make a really easy quest and win a mount.
and put mounts in cash shop.... like W T actual F O.o
Hey there, happy to have you in our community.
I will try to clarify some things.
Since "Scars of Honor" will be absolutely free-to-play, without any kind of pay-to-win mechanics, we are featuring an online store for cosmetics, mounts (which are purely cosmetic, and don't give advantage), and other things to be added, because we will need to sustain ourselves in some way, and this is the least harmfull for the players.
The in-game mounts will be earned through interesting quest chains, will feature interesting mechanics and you will be able to breed them into different species.
For me that is amazing, but there are players that will focus on other aspects of the game and won't bother to breed mounts and etc.
You will be able to experience "Scars of Honor" fully in whichever way you like. The only difference between you and the player who bought a mount will be in the skin of that said mount, but you will have the satisfaction of going on a "Journey" to get that mount, and you will have a bigger bond with it 😊

thanks for response...
That makes sense, not gonna lie.
For me there 2 very important things for mounts.
1. Dont get to many mounts in this game. I mean, over the time there will be more mounts no matter what, but dont overflood it please.
2. dont go the "world of wacraft-way" with high quality shop mounts and low quality effort mounts. The last years blizzard made such cool special mounts (for the shop) and really trashy or recoloured mounts for huge archievments like mythic/heroic clears. I kinda feel like , a part of mounts is to flex with them.

One simply solution to that is the fact of youp could make some customs for your mount (for example changing the colour of the skin, hair, etc...). Probably some special customs could be obtained via special quest, drops or purchased in store.
what level do you want to set for the mount once the game is officially released? lvl 20 , lvl 40 , lvl 60 ?
There should be some ordinary mounts that anybody should have acssess to buy at specific lvl. If evryone can get mount at lvl 1 where is the thrill noone will apriciate it because will not know what to walk across the map. There should be uniqe mounts wich you need to work your *** to get like Q chain or reputation or very low drop rate soo they can have some value in people's eyes. The mounts or their look doesn't matter soo much in front of that you're the one of the few that have it.

I would like to open one very interesting and vast topic.
Yes as you already know that is the Mounts discussion.
Give us what you've got, everything you were missing in other games (and I'm sure that you have some pretty big ideas).
I personally would like to catch and tame my mount or to buy a little newborn horse and look after it for some time, feed it, teach it, and after it is big and strong enough I will get it a saddle and ride it. Or if it is an elemental I will have to battle it and make it obey my orders. Maybe I find an egg and hatch it and look after it. Or I have to find the rarest metals and learn the hardest building technics to manage and build a mechanical mount. And also watch how the mounts grow and get strong.
We want you to really feel the game, everything to be personal. We want you to make efforts for every weapon, armor, mount, and stuff like that. We want you to have feelings like satisfaction when you find the desired weapon or armor, to feel love about your mount like a real live pet.

Everything I say is conceptual and I don't know if we are going to have mechanical or flying mounts or stuff like that.

I find the mounts I've come to value most throughout the MMOs I've played are the ones which I've earned in-game via achievements or drops. The idea of taming your own mounts sound really interesting and fun. However, I do think having purchasable mounts could beneficial in the aspect of it helps the game generate revenue, it allows more immediate customization for players, and if managed with community involvement towards the creation or inspiration for upcoming mount designs it may help with satisfaction and overall player retention.
