I totally agree with not giving Priest or any other class 2 specs for the same role, because as players we are going to be forced to play one or another, and also it can feel like both are the same but one more powerful than the other, it can be boring.
I like the idea of the monk, I can imagine it a bit like "Priest" manhwa by Hyung Min-woo.
The pendulum effect is very fustrating and painfull when a good deisgned speciallisation can have so much depth and playstyles.
Im not gona lie, my idea behind monks come from a book I read. With diffrent types of hits and everything. I see monks as clerics that searched for inner peace and kind of got tired of peoples shit and just went: Yeah, Im gona break you in half now..

Here is where we can use all the books, comics, movies and videogames we have experienced through years to create a master piece š

To me, the "Cleric"(aka healer) is a very basic healer but with alot of tools making it incredebly versitile and the dps very holy fire type of specc.
But making a monk, thats where it gets fun. You can add things like True Seismic Stomp, Spirit-Crushing Fist and all kinds of intresting stuff.
