Let's remove the mage stereotypes. Maybe can try with something different. Mage tank can enhance only his weapon, shield and armor with some sort buffs and bonuses.
- Sorry for my bad english.
I don't like the idea of Mage tanking, BUT, if you want to try something new, you can think in a specialization of summoning.
My Wizard in DnD once helped the group as a OFF TANK with a summon and some buffs. You can think in some spec that you can summon something like a Golem that you control and work around that with improvements for better tanking.
As an off tank ok, but I don't like the idea of a Mage stealing the thunder of a Warrior, Paladin, Black Knight, etc.

this game have a witch and a necromancer, we have plenty of sumoners i think

Ok, we have Witch and Necromancer, but it would be a problem to have one more option of summoner?
Like, you will have Witch and Necromancer summoning, I don't know, maybe: Skeletons, Ghouls, Demons, creatures of the void and etc...
I know that a lot of people like but I, personally, don't like these kind of summon. I prefer more the kind that Wizards can usually summon in RPG, less "evil" or less, you know, dead.
Wouldn't be nice an option for a Mage to summon Elemental creatures? Like a Golem (maybe as an Earth Elemental) to work as an off tank or a Fire Elemental as a damage dealer? I don't know but, as personal opinion, this kind of summoner I would give a try.

Talked about that in discord could be there with druid - animals, mage - elementals, necromancer - undead, witch - demons/monsters.
But hard to balance and make it really diferent, not just diferent look, same thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I prefered combining skill post with specialization post, so the idea is better understood. Here is my post link:

I agree with this
Marvelous community,
Let's get those precious minds to work and shape the best possible concepts for the classes.
So how will this work? We will ask you 5 questions (a question every day) about the class of the week. All your answers will be gathered and then evolved if needed, to create the best, and most fun to play class.
Skills are out of the way, which means it's time for Specialisations.
Pyromancer? Ice cold Cryomancer? How about a healing mage? Why not a Mage tank?
Let's see what comes to your mind when you think about a Mage
How would the Mage, master of elements...
-TANK? MAGIC SHIELDS/BARRIERS and Armors made of Earth element, ice and lighting CC, also Elemental pets golems to tank with him or take agro.
-HEAL? Water element approach, healing water, cicatrization flames, lighting shock team resurrection! Wind speed buff to allies.
-MAGIC DPS? Let's break the fire mage DPS stereotype, I like it, but I like Ice, water, earth, lighting, air DPS. Elemental pets or elemental form. A Mage that has let's say 5 skills and can change the element, the skills and the pet change according to the actual element.
-MELEE/Physical DPS? Imbuing weapons with elemental magic to change the traits or the way they attack, or creating magic weapons, flame gun, ice spear, earth maul, lighting bow, wind sword, water whip.

It just makes the most sense for mage because fire mage is obv a mage specialized in dealing as much damage as possible but that's almost all they can do, just tons of damage, that's what mages are known for. Another very popular mage specialization is frost which does a lot of slows and freezing enemy so they can't move, maybe stuns too, as well as a good amount of damage, that's very popular for mage playstyle in many games.
