Marvelous community,
Let's get those precious minds to work and shape the best possible concepts for the classes.
So how will this work? We will ask you 5 questions (a question every day) about the class of the week. All your answers will be gathered and then evolved if needed, to create the best, and most fun to play class.
The first question got some pretty good ideas, let's see how the second one will do.
What weapons must a sly and vicious assassin have in his arsenal?
Except for the obvious Daggers, what should the assassin have? Swords? Shuriken? Hidden blades? You name it!
An assassin must be lethal. He can't leave a victim alive. A shortsword for longer combats, throwing knifes or bombs to distract, a sarbacane to weaken.
I imagine an assassin as a character who uses both daggers and swords and possibly axes, in short, a jack of all trades. But if we talk about edged weapons, then with the restriction that the weapon he carries can only cause cutting damage. It is also possible to use a propellant. Also, poison or oil can be applied to any weapon that can be set on fire. But if you set fire to a weapon, it loses its durability. Also, particularly sophisticated assassins can use gas cylinders, poisoning the air around them, (naturally, so that the assassin himself does not get poisoned, he must wear a gas mask, or at least with a thick rag on his face). In addition to setting fire to weapons, you can also set fire to enemies with oil, but perhaps this will conflict with the class of magicians (so the oil that is poured over enemies and weapons can be made a consumable and pouring enemies directly requires more oil). An assassin can also possibly use the landscape as a weapon (this probably can apply not only to assassins).
Probably swords, throwing knives, an axe, or even maces to knock out their opponents in stealth missions, and if it was some other type of combat, more ninja like, swords or Katanas could be used for longer fights
(Sorry if the translation is not quite correct)
My English is poor, I'm using Google Translate. The Kusarigama is a very good weapon for an assassin, it can help with attack and mobility! If they don't have it as a weapon, some skill with that theme would be really good. Greetings from Dominican Republic!
With the exception of Daggers.
It depends on the fantasy surrounding what an Assassin is.
Stealthy and sneaky, being able to blend in with surroundings and crowds would be an assassins most potent ally. Having a hidden blade would be ideal for this, as larger weapons such as swords would be easier to pick out.
If the thought process is more rogue-like, having a short sword would be acceptable. In the end, everything would need to be able to be concealed somehow either under cloak or some other method.
For ranged, throwing knives or small explosives such as poison bombs or smoke bombs. However that moves into more of a ninja niche.
Maybe caltrops meanwhile its running to enemy or dust to bind to foe.
