Bulky version of ranged mage:
I think there must be a less squishy but much more bulky
mage and this is where the witch comes in, a mage who has strong resistances in
dark magic and some barrier skills. As every mage she/he must be a ranged
caster spec with smart resources and the ability to summon a demon or a pet to
help him out. Some of the smart resources that witch has is the ability to
redirect a cast or projectile to his pet, and to be able to deal with melee
enemy the pet can taunt an enemy (instead of pulling aggro, the enemy
involuntarily attacks the pet for a while and the enemy untarget the witch).
To differentiate it with ranger I was thinking that pet and
demons summoned, by the witch, must be a smart caster but with less resources
than witch and more resources than the ranger pet. And to differentiate it with
the necromancer, witch only can have one summon at the same time.
Geralt from Rivia inspired spec:
I was thinking about a melee spec for witch inspired in
Geralt from Rivia Saga. An agile and magical melee fighter who can drink a
flask to have a large increment of movement speed and attack speed for a short
time, and during this time his vision is strongly enhance so he is invulnerable
to blind and flashbangs. Also, he can cover his weapon in fire to deal fire
damage or elemental damage depending on enemy weaknesses and deal a strong and
elemental damage sword stab.
The idea of the melee witch is a fighter who can be a melee
bulky mage with passive health regeneration abilities and also, through
drinking a special flask or eat a demon soul, he can fight as fast and agile as
an assassin class for a short time. When he drinks his flask he/she gets access
to special and strong abilities only available during flask duration, so when
to drink the flask is strategically crucial during fight.
Remember he is not only a warrior he is also a demonic mage,
so I was thinking something like a hybrid between Shaman Enhancement from wow
and wotlk version of warlock demonology (with metamorphosis).
