Hey!
These days In many games getting a level is basically resetting the xp bar back to 0, players are not able to do anything with their character's after that. Talents that give player a choice are unlocked every (let's say) 5 lvls. So why instead of these 5 we don't have just 1?
Character is getting some fixed statistics like +3 intelligence, +2 wisdom, +2 vitality, etc. about which casual player don't even know because they are shown only for few seconds on a chat. Why aren't we able to choose which stats we would to increase like in old RPG's. Every lvl instead of giving a character fixed statistics, give a choice for the player to spend them to whatever stat he want (with some limitations ofcourse, for example, if you would get 5 points per lvl, you could spend max 3 into one attribute). It may not be exacly like that, there could be 5 points that are redistibuted automaticaly, and then 3 on top of them which we could spend how we want.
Also since it is a MMORPG it would be cool if we could reset those points by talking to the NPC, because nobody want's to create new character just to redistribute points better. That would also allow players to adapt to the combat requirements. If during the combat a boss uses an AOE spell that usually kill or nearly kill ranged classes, they could just prepare and spend more point's into their health at a cost of damage before going to the raid.
On top of that a talent system where we could upgrade some spells or unlock passives would be awesome. Here I'll refer to WoW's pre-Mists of Pandaria talent tree. Within it we had small buffs like +2% attack speed for x seconds after using spell "Y", but we also had talents that were changing the gameplay completely. The buffs are less important in my opinion(doesn't mean not important at all), just the possibility to decide that we want to go this way in the talent tree, spend 2 more points into this and after that we will unlock something that we find cool is awesome.
I think that will help players to be closer with their character and allow them to play the class the way they want :)
