Hello! I'm new here and really like the idea of this new game.
It's nice to have opposite factions that fight each other forever. I am a WoW player and this idea is good, but I would like to suggest maintaining the race selection independent of the faction. Of course this sounds weird for a WoW player, but think about the problems it represents.
The idea: You can pick any race you like based on the available classes and what your friends pick, then at level 10 (or at the moment the tutorial ended), you should be able to choose a faction, even with the capability of being neutral but each faction has unique transmogs, quests, and storyline. You are suposed to kill an enemy player if you see him in an insecure zone, and it could be nice to have faction ranks, each with different rewards and renown between faction members. Neutral members don't have any special reward and are enemies of everyone, this to ensure serius people would join factions but letting free birds play as they want.
This would avoid racial abilities unbalance, and also giving players the oportunity to choose the same as their friends no matter what race they like to play. The ability to change of faction could also be an interesting option in which you don't need to create a new character, but of course something expensive to do (for example to pay a pardon fee) and losing all of your faction rewards and abandoning the renown. Guilds, dungeons, raids and PVP should of course be played in groups of players of the same faction.
What do you think? If you don't like it is okay, tell me why don't you like. Sorry about my english, I speak spanish =)

I think that faction system works, but maybe in the future a neutral race could be added
I think the main problem it could create is the complete unbalance between factions, something similar of what happens in WoW retail today with the covenants. If you have not any special ability or reward for chosing one or other faction, I think balance is unpredictable in every server, something that could cause a lot of problems to developers, and it there are some kind of abilities, rewards...finally people will chose faction thinking about it.
I think, for creating that system it would need at least three factions and that all the game is developed in that way, like New World. And of course in this game that would break all the lore.
At the end this is a game developed according to the traditional pilars of an mmorpg. Of course it will have innovations but the core I think is thought to be the most traditional possible, as it is in Warcraft, Warhammer, LOTR...this game I think, wants to be a continuation of that path of the traditional MMORPG style.
Shaman classes will be integrated in the future?
Thanks for your comments, I understand it's difficult to imagine something completely different from WoW and that my suggestion for factions "joinable" independent from races would be very impactful for the game lore. However, I still think it could be a nice idea. In my opinion, the unbalance between factions not necesary will be managed with unique races in each faction. Because even with this concept, we all know in WoW there are far more population in the horde in most realms, and most of the professional raid guilds are horde too.
If the race selection is independent from the faction and you can opt to join a faction, stay neutral, and even abandon a faction an join the opposite, you can balance the racial traits in the PVE and PVP scene. To keep the balance of population you can offer increased XP and gold rewards, faster mats gathering, etc. Also the pardon fee to pay if you want to change your faction may be significantly different if the faction population is not balanced, so you can offer a cheap fee to enter a faction less populated (because they are recruiting) and a very expensive fee to enter the most populated faction, also losing access to those nice bonus XP and rewards I mentioned.
Of course my idea is not defined but the fact is that we don't have to think exactly as other games.

I also played the elder scrolls online where you can choice your faction independent from the race, and trust me, the free choice dont fix the faction unbalance, it make it worst. Imagine for example in wow, your race dont determine your faction, the next day humans are the second most played race in the horde.
After the disaster that i saw in TESO i prefer the classic wow system with 1 or 2 neutral races. The whole current unbalance in retail wow is merely because blizzard is no longer developing games for a community but for E-sport. Blizzard actually want that all pro players are playing in the horde, thats is why they do nothing to fix it. Its working as intended
