Well, the Dwarves might be short in size, but they sure are strong. Let's discuss the Strengths & Weaknesses of the Dwarf race.
Strong in crafting weapons and armor? Maybe strong with magic? How about their weakness? Weak will when it comes to "shiny" stuff? Never truly trusting anyone?
Let's discuss!

I don't really know about magic, since there are so many franchises which depict them as having little to no connection to magic. I don't really know if I would like this to be broken up or enforced. By either giving them an affinity or some kind of resistance / handicap to it.
I think the affinity for crafting is a great idea.

Strong
Good blacksmiths and metal manipulators.
Good miners.
They are robust but not all, some dwarves are more fascinated by building things and forging, so they are weaker but, there are others who are great explorers who face caves full of monsters in search of gems or large ores, the exploring dwarves are stronger and of course since it is part of their routine to have to deal with monsters while exploring the caves.
Weakness
They are not very agile, and this lack of speed is what encourages them to make the best machines, weapons and armor, so that they are able to take on their enemies, and deal with the predators they encounter in the caves.
Since dwarves spend most of their lives in caves and at the base of valleys and mountains, they usually have little knowledge of the surface but, a lot of knowledge about the underground.
Suggestion: there may be a legendary dwarf who in the past killed a dragon or something, and this dwarf would have used a dragonslaying sword that was specially forged to kill dragons or a two-handed axe that was forged to kill dragons.
Suggestion: Mecha or power armor
Suggestion: Dwarven magic might be something about runes that they use to draw ethereal magic.

I think here is important to bring dwarves with traits that can make them more different of humans as possible, to avoid making them a human sidekick, and make them more interesting.
STRENGTHS
-Obsession: 2 edged sword, the dwarf obsession, can lead them to accomplish great things, often this is what have led the dwarves to found treasures and create the greatest armors in Aragon.
-Rough bodies: They have evolved from what they were once, dwargs, but they didn't lose all their primitive traits, their bodies conserve the calluses developed as natural protection, caused by moving and working with rough materials like stones and gems.
-Excavators: They are the greatest excavators of Aragon, the more experienced Dwarves can excavate tunnels below a city without making it fall.
-Metallurgic: Dwarves are always exploring ways to create new materials through forges, they have an ability to create alloys with almost every material found in the world, to create ingots with different properties.
-Eyes to see in the darkness: They basically are underground creatures, so they can see better in dark.
-Underground orientation sense: Underground is dark and labyrinthic, you can get lost really easy, Dwarves have an extremely good orientation sense in underground places.
-Different nutrition: Flora and fauna, isn't the same up in the green fields, that down in the caves and heart of the mountain. Dwarves adapted to eat some kinds fungus and some types of ore, that are only digestible by them.
-Superior stamina: They are small, but they are really hard workers, they have a superior stamina than humans, elves, demons and Undead at least, a lot.
-They live longer than Humans.
-Affinity to magic
WEAKNESSES
-Greed sickness: It's like a normal sickness, for Dwarves, they have to use some special ore infused with special magic to counter this hereditary mental disease that drives Dwarves mad. Like LOTR.
-Obsession: The same that led Dwarves to achieve great things, has led them to fail in expeditions for inexistent treasures, or dying looking for new materials in dangerous places.
-Small size: This can be an strength in some scenarios, but is a disadvantage for them in the upper world.
-Untrusting: Derivated from their hereditary greed sickness, they have a natural sense to be untrusting people, what varies from 1 dwarf to another.
-Traditionalists: They are very rooted to their traditions, more than other races, almost like Orcs, this can led to some problems, like conflict with other races with a different way of living.

The strengths of the Dwarves could be strength and endurance both mental and physical, tenacity, craft skills related to stone and metal, and be people with a high sense of honor and commitment.
Weak points could be their stubbornness, distrust of the "inferior races" and their eagerness to accumulate wealth.
I know they are very topical concepts, especially related to the Warhammer Dwarves, but I like it, hehe.
See you
