No-muertos
NO SERVIMOS A NADIE

Revising the undead race, it occurred to me that it might be more original to make some small adjustments without losing their essence and aesthetics. Here's an example:
Undead
WE SERVE NO ONE
Humans who have decided to refuse to have their soul reborn become Undead and thus avoid serving the Old Gods. The Undead refused to live that way. They forced the Old Gods to bring another curse upon them, the curse of rotting flesh and immortality, so they will live forever in their rotting bodies, never to be accepted again by their families and friends.

THE IMMORTALS
Humans, mortal beings with a short life expectancy, sought for ages to defy death. A powerful sorceress named Nepherimas managed to alter the order established by the Old Gods and shared her formula for immortality with any scholar who had the audacity to defy them and enough power to overcome such an arduous test without dying in the attempt. But everything has a price, even immortality. Many considered it a curse from the Old Gods, who condemned them to live forever in their rotting bodies, thus showing the rest of the humans the doom that would befall anyone who dared to defy them.
This change would make sense if the classes that could be accessed would make sense if they were all casters, but since the only one I can see is the warrior (pirates I think could be adapted as an exception, and they could be the result of some "Flying Dutchman" type curse) I think it could work quite well.

It is a very good idea about the curse, after all, something has had to bring them back to life, you could also blame it on the necromancers, as they could have experienced to bring them back and thus make an unstoppable army of undead for the domination :D
