For this Dev Discussion, we want your opinions on the Third Party Add-ons.
Are they a must-have? Do you think they can cause breaches in security?
What about if we implement all the necessary things directly in your UI,
like Damage/Heal Counter, one or many bags, gathering tools, all of them?
As always we can't wait to receive your feedback on these important topics!

Better implemen most usual tools directly ingame options.
In my opinion
From my experience in MMORPGs, if the system is flawless and stable, add-ons are not really required.
Add-ons are just a proof that there are issues in the base system or the interface that need to be filled with external tools.
On one hand we have games like World of Warcraft, that based on their goals, intentions and interfaces clearly lack a lot of tools (damage and healing meters, as it's a game with an encounter design that "enforces" that), postal add-ons because of a bad interface, etc.
On the other hand we have games like Final Fantasy XIV, which have no add-ons (in fact, they are forbidden). There is one that people use, but mainly for personal improvement, as they game is created in such a way that you don't need a damage meter to know if you are doing well or not (they implement dummies on a timmer that forces you to reach a "minimum" dps required. If you are able to kill the dummy before the timer expires, your dps is good enough). The whole interface can be moved and the size changed. There are even certain aspects of the interface that can be changed from a visual mode to a minimalistic one.
For these reasons, I am more attracted to the FF XIV model.
Polish your game, make the interface attractive and easily editable, don't force the need of external add-ons to do stuff you should be able to do by default.
Regarding dps/healing meters, I also like the FF XIV approach. Adding timed dummies to check if your dps is "good enough" is a good way to avoid having those tools be "mandatory" and making them an assistance tool for your personal improvement.
Personally, I'd say NO to add-ons, and in case they are allowed, control their use, specially damage/healing meters, and make it so any kind of harrassing or use of those tools to hinder the experience of other players is forbidden and severely punished.
Do you want to use damage meters? Do so, improve your performance, but do not use it or attack others for the numbers they are doing. Do so and get banned.

I am totally in the side of implement all the necessary things directly in the UI, with the possibility for the player to customize them (position/scale of the window, position/scale of the text, colour, etc...). It would be nice for example to create a category under the menu called UI, where you can enable/disable/customize all the things you implement.
"Damage/Heal Counter, one or many bags, gathering tools, all of them?" All of them! All bags unified in one OFC
I think they should use addons, but creating a program to install them in the game and thus be able to better filter the addons that do not want or do not work

EN: I will not write a new message because this one consolidates my thinking. I completely agree with this advice. If the base of the game is well built, the add-ons will be useless.
Also, with all the big heads in IT now, adding add-ons I think can create loopholes as they will always find a way to tweak them. Add-ons like antibiotics should not be overused. I find it destroys the gameplay of the game because it changes the basis of the game. Either it is added directly because the developers chose it, or it does not exist.

I will say after all the mmorpgs I played that addons are the worst thing u can use on a true classic mmorpg, they kill the essence of the game making them more easy, more lineal, and more things, If u want to give some things to make it more easy just implement it at the UI, dont get third party things, they do the job for the bots and grinders and everything. So for me dont let them use in this game!
