Hello you all! I've decided to hype you by sharing my specialization ideas for every class. For now i'm working on the pirate which is my favourite and the one i'll probably play the most. First of all, I'd like to say that I'm terrible at balancing stuff or making a logical skill for a MMO, so take this just as an inspirational idea. It might be too strong, or too weak. That's for the devs or you to discuss. I'm leaving this for all the feedback that can get and share ideas! :) I'll be updating this post with the ideas that i get from you and the future me. The idea is to criticise all you like, and dislike, to make something cool!
PIRATE SPECS:
Each specialization would be inspired by a "famous" in-game pirate/ ship?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CAPTAIN -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main ideas: Tank role, melee, rapier/sword user. Could be used tankier, or more DPS focused? Maybe with a passive, changing the stance you want to use according to the playstyle or next fight.
Pirate/ship legend story (WIP): There might be many captains in the world, but all of them will kneel to one when they hear the name. Captain Landsire, oh for his history is well known at the whole sea, and so is his precious ship, the "Siren's Wail". Once worked for the King, Lothar Methryn, being just a crew member at a huge ship, one that later on would be his own.
No one really knows the real story but after years of service, Landsire became a really important member and close with the captain. After his abrupt death, caused by poison, many suspected of Landsire since he'd become the captain of the ship although he rapidly raised his voice, being the leader they all needed.
"I didn't come here to be a captain, neither to listen to your murmuring about who killed him. I certainly know it wasn't me, but I am even more certain that I will find the one to blame and we'll walk the plank at high sea. None of you, and i say NONE will leave this ship until we find the culprit, you hear me?"
The whole crew shivered to Landsire's words, surprised by his leadership. Many got quiet after whispering and blaming Landsire for the death, the rest looked to each other wondering who could be the culprit.
" Down with the traitor! " One screamed to Landsire.
" Long live the captain Landsire! " Another member followed.
Days passed, and they kicked the cook that they thought was to blame. Mainly under the assumption that he could poison the food and he hated Landsire, so that would take all the blame to him and destroy his reputation. After that, Landsire sailed as captain of the Siren's Wail for many many years, that is until the ship became a legend.
Again, no one knows the real story but that ship never returned home after one of King's Lothar missions. Some suggested that it sank by an unknown motive, maybe pirates or a fight against another ship. Others say it was a sea creature, and some bards even talk about the possibility of him being around as an undead since many (drunk) sailors claim to have seen the Siren's Wail sailing around at night, although they never saw a captain on board. There is always the possibility that he refused the Old Gods but... No one really knows the truth but himself and the crew.
Idea explanation: I thought about a sword-fighting pirate, one bringing the attention of the enemy and leading the fight for its crew. Then again, I'm not good with abilities so i wrote what i thought was good for a tank. Open for suggestions!
SKILL IDEAS:
PVE (Dungeons and raids?):
Parrot's screech: Your parrot screeches, bringing the attention of nearly foes to you. (Ability to get aggro at dungeons? The parrot flies from enemy to enemy)
Down with the ship: Even if your ship sinks, you'll go down with it. When you are about to die, you enter a state where
you are fighting to fix your ship. Different ideas for the "Minigame". It might be too op, I'm not good at balancing stuff :D just giving ideas.
1. You become a ghost, leaving your "crew" (team) behind. To come back you must do something, not really sure yet since it must fit a tank role.
It has to be punishing too for the team and be balanced since it can come back to life. Leaving the crew fighting without a tank seems reasonable while the player tries to revive himself.
Destroying the ghosts (the reincarnation of captain's fear, his crew dead. This can be related to Captain Landsire's dead.) of his teammates. Once he destroys one, that specific player gets a boost.
If the captain destroys all, he's back to the fight and the boosts are over.
PVE/PVP:
Face the captain: You knock the area around you, bringing the enemies towards you.
Parry/Riposte: Basically a counterattack? You are defensive with the sword for X seconds, if you get attacked you block it and return the damage.
Remise: Short series of continuous attacks. Immune to CC?
Flunge: You jump to a location/an enemy, hitting them and slowing.
Second intention: The real attack would be a deceive attack, followed by the strong one. In-game, this could be as an attack to down the enemy protections (The deceive attack) followed by a normal attack.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GUNNER WIP -------------------------------------------------------------------
GUNNER MAIN IDEAS: Long distance, gun/rifle/cannons, DPS.
He'd use bombs and guns. Work in progress, i need some feedback. To make the cannons "realistic" since it doesn't make sense that he carries them, i thought about making it related to ghost spirits, being able to bring for a time dead pirates who'd shoot. I need to work on it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NAVIGATOR WIP --------------------------------------------------------------
NAVIGATOR MAIN IDEAS: Long distance?, nets/orders guiding the "ship" (team), support.
He'd give orders of how to control the ship, sails, and so on. It could have X orders, only one active giving that certain boost.
And then active abilities to support the team. Throw nets to root enemies, for example. Heals and so on.
I like your ideas. I think the "gunner" spec can use a blunderbuss for a mid ranged dps, or a rifle for a more sharpshooter build... But I like moke the blunderbuss
Yeah :) It's supposed to be my future undead pirate backstory, sort of. I'm glad you like it!
