Are professions going to be separated in main and secondary trees like WoW profs or not? And will there be any class specified profs ? Or maybe all the professions will be class specified like witches making gems or enchantments warriors making hard armors assassins making all shiny daggers and potions/poisons and paladins making some healing med kits ?
Anyway what overall profs will we see in SoH ? Maybe limiting the profs to 4-5 wouldn't be that bad and making it possible for everyone to know everything. Or maybe the whole idea is to be able to have 1 profession per character that would make every character unique and will give it a 'name' among the community as "Shockmaker" is know for being a good blacksmith we should ask him to make us some good shiny armors and pay him some nice gold for it.
Maybe creating a thing for the most experienced craftsmen would be nice. Individual stores for every individual player where they can put their creations? Or a hall of the craftsmen where all the best craftsmen from different profs are shown and a normal player could chat with them about something he might want and they could create.

I like the last part a lot and I think it would be a nice implementation or maybe a system similar to it.
A hall of artisans where the best artisans of different professionals are shown would be great to see the greatest of each profession ...

For Pvp it is easy, the more deaths you have in tournaments or similar, the more points in the ranking and the better the death / kill ratio, the better player or something like that ...
In workers, that each item you manufacture gives a number of points, or even different points, to have a ranking of the most productive (by global number of items produced) and another of those that make the best objects (by higher quality of produced objects), for example.
